What do I know about my ancestors

The short answer is ‘not a lot’ and trying to find some of them has been tiresome and frustrating at times but, over all, it is an exciting journey that never ceases. Once you think you have solved one mystery, another appears to take it’s place.

I am gradually building up pictures of their lives and, as my knowledge of them increases, I will add to these biographies.

granddad1

Ernest Gascoyne - My maternal Grandfather. He served in W.W.I, was injured twice and

actually served in three different regiments. He died when I was very young so this was

never something I had considered. It was only after Mum gave me a photo of him in

uniform that I decided to look into this further. I have had some research done regarding

the regiments he served in and, once I have read through it, I will post an account of it

all on here. Sadly his service records have been destroyed so I am unable to find any

more information about that.

nan Pretoria Adams - My maternal Grandmother. After much searching, I finally found out that she was not registered under the name her family always knew her. I have finally tracked her down and have been able to provide my Mum and her siblings with information about their Mum’s parents & grandparents, and other other family members they never knew about.

Arthur Mark - My dad, who died in 1974 so I never really got to know him
