 Nantwich Museum is looking for a Curator

 

LATER this year, our Curator of many years standing will be retiring. We are now looking for someone to replace her. Here are the details of the post and how you can obtain an application form.

SALARY: £19,500 + pension contribution

 

TYPE: Permanent, Full-time Position

 

LOCATION: Nantwich, Cheshire

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Nantwich Museum is in an ancient market town and seeks to present its rich and diverse history to the inhabitants and the many visitors to the area. The collection comprises over 4,500 artefacts covering archaeological finds, social history, photography and much else. There is a modern gallery in which a wide range of temporary exhibitions are staged. The Museum has a Heritage Lottery-funded Community Learning Officer. The Museum has achieved accreditation status.

The Curator will be expected to maintain and advance a professional curatorial function. Collection care and presentation will be a major responsibility.  The position necessitates working with volunteers and liaising with the wider community, fellow professionals and with the Museum’s Board of Management. The appointee will be required to develop a dynamic programme of exhibitions and activities.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Applicants should possess a museum post-graduate qualification, ideally, and must have experience of working in a museum environment. The position requires excellent organisational and I.T. skills and comprehensive knowledge of accepted museum processes. The post holder will be expected to adopt flexible working practices, including some evening and weekend work. Full driving licence essential.
