 Education service

Schools

THE museum offers a tailored service to schools who can either opt for a half-day visit or combine their visit with a guided walk around the town or St Mary's Parish Church.

There are introductory talks on Tudor Nantwich and other specified topics, artefact-handling sessions and living history sessions (come and dress up!) for all school groups.

Teachers should initially contact the Community Learning Officer to make arrangements and a booking.

lFor general events (i.e. not specifically for schools), see this page.

Adult learning

A VARIETY of day and evening classes are available in the museum for adults. Enrolment is usually at the beginning of the spring or autumn terms.

A craft group meets on Thursday mornings and arranges a number of workshops throughout the year. Keep an eye on the notice board page for details.

 The Travelling Tudors

NOT part of the Museum personnel, but able to bring an insight into life in Tudor days, are eight ladies who call themselves The Travelling Tudors.

They can visit your school or organisation - usually in a group of four - to present a talk on Tudor costumes, describing what was worn by local people and how they were made. They wear their own home-made costumes to illustrate the talk.

The ladies also show a variety of items used by Tudor people in their everyday life. After their talk they will answer questions from the members of their audience.

The ladies live in the Crewe area, Middlewich, Macclesfield, Congleton and Swynnerton and speakers can be arranged in those areas.

The talk can be staged at local schools through the Museum's outreach programme.

Talks secretaries of local organisations can arrange for the Travelling Tudors to speak at a meeting of their group. Contact Carole Owen on 01270 522654 or Grace Harding on 01270 250677. Or visit their website.
