Photo Gallery - at thanksgiving service

Recalling Dorry's life

TO the many people who knew her internationally, she was Dorothy Bradford. To her family and close friends she was Dorry. And that was how she was referred to by all who paid tribute to her at a Thanksgiving Service for her life at Nantwich Parish Church on Monday, June 30.

The speakers were: Mary Sara - who wrote the text of Dorothy's book, Rhythms of Life - her son, Hugh, and a grandson, Ben Wright. Another grandson, Andrew Fagan, read the Lesson (Psalms 23).

An Elegy for Dorothy, composed by Nicholas Marshall,  was played by Tony Metcalfe (organ) and John Turner (Recorder). Dorothy was a member of a Bach Choir and a piece by Bach was played by Philip Crookhall (organ).

The hymns, "Lord of All Hopefulness" and "He Who Would Valiant Be" were sung.

The service, which was conducted by the Rector of Nantwich, the Rev Peter Chantry, followed a service at Crewe Crematorium earlier in the day.

Donations in lieu of flowers were for the Royal Northern College of Music.
