formerly known as the
New Website for New Museum! Yes, we have a new name and a broader remit covering all forms of transport in South Yorkshire. So we've finally got round to developing a new, improved website with a new domain name to match our new title. It's www.sytm.co.uk and it's now the Official Website of the South Yorkshire Transport Museum. This site, www.sheffieldbusmuseum.com, will continue to exist as a kind of virtual museum for the old Tinsley Tram Shed and as a signpost to the new Museum website.
Event and Open Days for 2010 We're now well established at our new base in Aldwarke, just north of Rotherham. Our first Event Day this year is on Sunday 14th March.
Following that there'll also be Event Days on the following Sundays in 2010: 11th April, 9th May, 13th June, 11th July, 8th August, 19th September, 10th October, 14th November and 12th December. Our Event Days are special occasions when the Museum is made ready for the 100+ visitors who normally come and an entry fee is charged. We open at 12 noon.
Admission charges are £3.50 for adults and £2 for children, senior citizens and other unwaged people. There's also a Family Ticket at £8 to cover 2 adults and up to 3 children.
The Museum also has Open Days every Saturday, from about 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There's nothing special happening on these days but there will be members working on the many different vehicles, and visitors find it interesting to see how much work goes into vehicle preservation. These Open Days are free of charge, though of course we are always glad of any donations to the Museum.
The South Yorkshire Transport Museum can be found just off the A6123 on Waddington Way at Aldwarke. First Group's X78 service provides a frequent service from Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster to the Mushroom Roundabout. From there it's about a 20 minute walk to the Museum.
