South Yorkshire formerly known as the
New Website for New Museum! Yes, we have a new name and a broader remit covering all forms of transport in South Yorkshire. So we've finally got round to developing a new, improved website with a new domain name to match our new title. It's www.sytm.co.uk and it's now the Official Website of the South Yorkshire Transport Museum. This site, www.sheffieldbusmuseum.com, will continue to exist as a kind of virtual museum for the old Tinsley Tram Shed and as a signpost to the new Museum website.
Open Days for 2008 We're now well established at our new base in Aldwarke, just north of Rotherham. Our first Open Day this year is on Easter Day, 23rd March 2008.
Following that there'll also be Open Days on the following Sundays in 2008: 13th April, 11th May, 25th May, 8th June, 13th July, 10th August, 24th August, 12th October, 8th November and 14th December.
On Open Days the Musuem will be open to visitors from 12 noon (last admission at 4 p.m.). Come and have a look at South Yorkshire's newest attraction. There is ample car parking on site, or you can use the frequent vintage shuttle bus, operating from the bus lay-by at ASDA direct to the Museum.
Admission charges are £3 for adults and £1.50 for concessions. There's also a Family Ticket at £6 to cover 2 adults and 2 children.
The new Museum - now called the South Yorkshire Transport Museum - is situated just off the A6123 on Waddington Way at Aldwarke. First Group's X78 service provides a frequent service from Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster to the Mushroom Roundabout. From there it's about a 20 minute walk to the Museum.
Sheffield Transport Rally 2008
The 2008 Rally will be held on 14th September. This does not clash with the Rotherham Show (which in 2008 will be held on 6th/7th September).
