The list shown below shows those Manor Court Records that have survived and are available in the County Record Offices. The period shown is for guidance only and it must not be taken that the available records cover these years consecutively.
The location shown refers to the estate papers within which the records are to be found. A full reference must be obtained from the appropriate Record Office, which, in most cases, will be the office at Whitehaven.
The Manor court records may include the papers from both the Courts Leet & Courts Baron as well as surveys, admittances, rentals & enfranchisements etc and are a valuable source to both the family and local historians.
