The Drive Preparatory School is a Co-educational school for 3 to 16 year olds. It  consists of a Pre-prep and Prep/College on The Drive, Hove.

We believe that although the course offers Common Entrance and G.C.S.E, one of our main objectives is to provide a stimulating and caring environment. A place where every effort is made to understand the particular needs of your child, for they all differ.

We have a class maximum of sixteen pupils in the Prep dept, fourteen in the Pre- Prep dept. and eight in the Nursery.  Although each class has a constant form tutor, teachers qualified and specialising in particular subjects ensure that your child’s learning is enhanced by knowledge from other subject areas.

One of the main school aims is to help the children develop positive attitudes to life. The school has a Non- Bullying policy. It has a Travel plan to raise road safety awareness.

We believe that early, fluent reading is a great joy to a child and one of the main keys to success. We use our own very successful  ‘Action Reading’ method.

There is a Speech and Drama department to boost both confidence and English work. We run a performing arts programme with expert drama, dance and music tuition. Design, Technology, Art, Team Sports, and swimming are also part of the curriculum as is French from 3 years. Science is taught as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Ecology. Information Technology is a strength of the school.

Subjects are taught in the Key Stages following the National Curriculum guidelines. The S.A.T.S. tests are taken by the children at ages 7, 11, and 13+ and are externally marked. After school clubs for Design, Sports, Information Technology and Drama are free and continue until 4.30p.m. in the Upper School.

We do not expect every pupil to follow the same course in the same manner, but we do intend to help your child  achieve his/her full potential.
