Hemingbrough         2    1    York Railway Institute

There are time when patience reaDs its just reward and so it proved when a
physical York side visited Hemingbrough for a top-of-table clash The current league leaders included in their side Nick Hutchinson who had amassed 19 goals in just 5 games and is The leading goal scorer in the Leeper Hare league.

Defences were on top for the first half with, few chances falling to either team altho.~h the visitors had the better of the early exchanges Hemingbrough were the better side by the interval. The second half produced the goals that the game needed but surprisingly it was The York RI That opened the storing Nick Brown in the Brough goal was totally blinded for a split second by the sun when a hopeful cross came from the left and though he parried the bell out it fell to the feet of Hutchinson who scored easily from no more than 4 yds out.

York applied a period of pressure hit Hemingbrough with Zacharenko and Young at the heart of the defence easily withstood the dangers. Herningbrough have created a new dimension to their game and this bounceback-ability helped Them beck into the game. On 75 mins Crown Inn Man of the Match Dave Young, powered a free kick towards the goal and the sides leading goalscorer, Danny Smith got a slight but important touch to divert The ball into the back of the net. Just five minutes later Hemlngbrough took the lead when from a Richie Collins corner Smith timed his jump to perfection and met the ball perfectly to head past the visitors keeper.

East Riding Junior Country Cup
Hemingbrough         0    4    Globe FC (Bridlington)

The defending Cup Holders of the East Riding Cup bowed out this years competition at only the second hurdle They were beaten by a strong experienced side who effectively had the tie wrapped up within the first 20 mintues

The visitors first two goals came in quick succession and were mirror images of each other, close range unmarked headers from set pieces. Then while Brough were still reeling from this set back Globe slotted home a third with an accurate strike from the edge of the area. To Hemingbrough's credit they responded like Cup Holders and played some attractive football with Leigh Young and Mark Livsey posing problems for the Globe defence.

Just before the interval with Hemingbrough pushing forward they were caught with a sucker punch when the visitors beat the offside trap and finished the move by delicately flicking the bail over the advancing keeper. In the second half Brough battled gamely with Scott Birch and Dave Jackson dominating the mid-field but any faint hope of a comeback were dashed after a series of injuries saw Brough finish with just 10 players.

John Smiths Sunday League Division 2

Hemingbrough    4           1   Burnholme

Three goals within the first half hour ensured that there would be no repeat of the goal less stalemate the last time these sides met each other earlier in the season, as Hemingbrough easily overcame their Division Two counterparts to book a place in The quarter-final draw of the Johns Smiths Challenge Cup.

Danny Smith opened The scoring when he volleyed in a Jon Teale corner and the lead was doubled quickly when Richie Collins, with his third goal in as many games drilled a shot wide of the despairing keeper. Hemingbrough went
three up when Smith latched onto a through ball from Matty Williams and Danny Smith calmly beat the keeper.

Despite sitting back on this lead Hemingbrough were still dominating the game and increased their lead even further when a Jon Teale Volley was to good for the visitors keeper. Late in the game New Earswick grabbed a consolation goal with a fortuitous goal. Steve Harrison put in another fervent performance and duly collected the Crown Inn Man of the Match Award.
