LONG JUMPING
The aim of my web site is simply to inform, disseminate, guide, research and generally educate those people who have an avid interest in long jumping.
It is intended for coaches, athletes, teachers, students and anybody really interested in Long Jump.
My web site will look at the essential elements that make up the long jump. It will examine new coaching methods, those skills and drills that help learn and master the many complex sub-routines that make up the whole skill.
It will explore the complex physiological factors underlying the development of the elastic/explosive strength required by horizontal jumpers. It will explore the strength training programme known as plyometrics and complex training.
It will look at some of the more important bio-mechanical processes involved in these events and how coaches should understand these basic concepts in order to achieve a better understanding of the event.
But more importantly it will deliver relevant and specific technical information to inform athletes and coaches alike.
NOTE
I haven’t updated this site for over a year now because I’ve been busy setting up my new website which is now online and can be found at:
www.longjumping.co.uk
I have written a book entitled:
THE LONG JUMP
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND DRILLS
TRAINING AND COACHING FOR THE EVENT
To read more about my book you will have to log on to my new website where you will find more details.
I shall leave this site as it is but my new site offers more for the coach and athlete.
Last Update: June 2006
