8. VILLAGE SHOP FOOTPATH

Picture of Shop Footpath

The path newly cut in May2003

This path, starts from between the Village Shop and the Rectory running down to the junction of School Road and the A1066.
It runs due South, alongside a garden. Shortly after reaching an open field [Post], it bears to the South West through a copse, and across a field to the opposite corner [Post].
Crossing a ditch, new bridge [27/09/02], it turns due South across a field to a corner [Post].
Turning South West again, across the field towards a gap in conifer hedge by the bungalows[Post].
It then runs due South along the back of gardens nearly to the main road [Post] turning South West again through a garden to it's end.
A short walk right along the A1066 brings you to the 'Chequers Inn'.

NOTE !!
As far as the village was concerned, the rights to this path were extinguished many years ago, and the path was not in use. However it now appears that the extinguishment was NOT completed.
We understand that after representations by the Ramblers Association, the footpath has been re-opened
At the lower end the route has been diverted slightly to take into account changes that have taken place, although not at the other end.

****
from the 1st Sept 2004 the path has been diverted at the southern end so that, insteadof passing through the hedge, and along the back of the Bungalows it runs due West along the field edge to meet School Lane.
