Our Conductor
Stephen Buckman studied organ, voice, conducting and composition in London and Paris. Among his mentors were such notable musicians as Sir Adrian Boult and Olivier Messiaen.
As a conductor, Stephen has conducted choirs and orchestras throughout the UK as well as in France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark and the USA. Alongside his classical work, Stephen has extensive experience as a Musical Director and voice coach in the professional theatre in London's West End and in New York. Stephen is also an established composer of scores for television and radio.
In recent years Stephen has concentrated on teaching rather than the nomadic existence of the concert platform. He is currently Director of Music at Farlington School, Horsham and a visiting lecturer at the University of Sussex.
As well as teaching, composing and working as a guest conductor and voice coach, Stephen Buckman is the Conductor of Horsham Chamber Choir (since 1993) and the Organist at All Saints Church, Roffey.
