We took our latest addition to our family, Darktower Selena to the Lancashire CC Show on March 11th. She was the youngest MC kitten there and she came in 4th in a very strong class. She gained a first in a large side class and a second in another. She behaved impeccably throughout, endearing herself to judges and visitors alike, and was a real credit to her breeder, Jacky Edwards.

On 10th July, the Humberside and Lincolnshire Shows were held on the same day at the same venue at Doncaster. Ch. Beardwood Leonardo Davinci, who has now been neutered, won the Open Male Brown Tabby Premier Class in both shows. We think this must be the first time that any Maine Coon has won two Premier Certificates at a GCCF show on the same day. He also had a red card day at the Lincolnshire Show. and had all red cards, apart from one second, at the Humberside Show.
Congratulations to his proud owners, Mel and Len Woodcock and many thanks to Kath Atkinson, who helped them prepare Leo for the show, and whose Imp. UK Grand Champion VelvetJewels Cullinan sired Leo in the first place!
At the same venue, Helen Krasner showed Beardwood Princess Xena in her first AOC Maine Coon Female Open Kitten Class, which she won. She was only shown in one show because it was her first show, aged just 16 weeks, and Helen did not want to outface her with too many judges. Well done, Xena and Helen!
On 1st May, at the Manchester & District Cat Show, Beardwood Theo Rousseau won the Open Brown/Blue Tabby Male Adult Class and gained his first Challenge Certificate. It was his first show since he was shown as a young kitten last year, and although he was a bit nervous at first, he was thoroughly enjoying all the attention by the end of the show.
On 27th March at the Preston and Blackpool Show, Champion Beardwood Leonardo Davinci won the Open Brown Tabby Male Adult class, beating Angus into second place. They had both been entered prior to being made up and seeing that they were not up against anyone else trying to become a champion, we let them fight it out and the best cat won. Well done Leo, Mel and Len!!

Sadly, we lost yet another of our older girls, Belujondra Charming Chloe, on July 27th. She was a good mother and her first and second generation offspring included Grand Champions and Grand Premiers. She was a quiet girl but very affectionate.
On Our Cats page, we have introduced Beardwood Theo Rousseau and Beardwood Kate Greenaway, our new kittens. On 18th July, we took Theo and Katie to the Gwynedd Show. Katie won the AOC Maine Coon Female class. Theo came in second to his litter brother, Beardwood Leonardo Davinci who also won BOB. Leo is owned by two good friends, Len and Melanie Woodcock, and he will probably be appearing at quite a few shows in future, hopefully not at the same shows as Theo!!

We have not been showing much this year due to both our queens being busy having kittens, but at the Gwynedd Show on 19th July 2008, Beardwood Impunity Jane won the AOC Adult Female Open Class and gained her second CC.
Very many congratulations to Oltomaine Darktower DJ, who not only won his AOC Male Kitten Open Class and was awarded BOB but also, at the tender age of 8 months, was Best Semi Long Hair and Overall Best in Show.
We also congratulate his breeder, Irene Walsh and his owner, Jacky Edwards. He really did them proud today.
We are also pleased because DJ was sired by Beardwood Darktower Othello, who was in Oscar's last litter with Impunity Jane. DJ has a real look of Oscar.

At the Gwynedd Cat Show on 21st July 2007, Ch Hartscoon Ayla of Beardwood had one of those days...........................................!
She won BOB and was judged Best Semi Long Hair in Show and also was first in all her side classes........unfortunately she didn't get that elusive third Grand Certificate!!!
At the Maine Coon Cat Club Show on 23rd June 2007, Ch. Hartscoon Ayla of Beardwood was awarded the AOV Champion Female Grand Certificate. One more Certificate to get before she is made up to Grand Champion!
A number of cats sired by Oscar also did well and congratulations to their breeders, Irene Sharp and May Dyson.
For a number of reasons, we have not been showing at many shows this year. We intended to show Janie this year but we had to let her have kittens earlier than usual as part of her treatment for pyometra. Janie and kittens are doing well. So we are showing Ayla in the Grand classes and on June 2nd at the Merseyside Cat Show, Ch.Hartscoon Ayla of Beardwood was awarded the Open Female AOV Grand Certificate together with Best Of Breed.
