Our Cats

All our cats are much loved pets and  have the run of our house

On 28th February 2009, Janie, who had been mated to Kathryn Atkinson's UK Imperial Grand Champion VelvetJewels Cullinan, had a litter of 5 wonderful kittens (our "Artists litter"). It was one of the best litters we have ever had. Thanks, Kath.

We have therefore added Beardwood Theo Rousseau (a Classic Brown Tabby without white) and Beardwood Kate Greenaway ( a Tortie Tabby without White) to our menagerie. Their parents are both negative for the MyBPC HCM gene. Theo will hopefully be able to assist Angus in his duties later on.

On 25th January 2009, we welcomed a new kitten into our family: Elmcoon Angus of Beardwood, a handsome brown classic tabby and white boy. We hope that he will be our new stud boy when he grows up. Angus' parents are both negative for the MyBPC HCM gene. Many thanks to Helen and Brenda for this lovely boy. We have now included his pedigree on the "Pedigrees page"( for link see below)

Several of our girls are now retired but enjoy baby-sitting for the younger queens.

We have also a stray part-Persian black cat called Sootica who was living "rough" in our garden. We had her scanned and managed to contact her previous owners but as they no longer wanted her we decided to keep her. She was health checked by our vet, blood tested and  had a full course of inoculations. Eventually the cold weather persuaded her to spend the nights in the house. She is not the slightest bit bothered by all the other house cats and they have accepted her without a murmur of protest. She is obviously an honorary Maine Coon and has now been with us for many years!

Please note that we have now attached the pedigrees of our entire cats to this page. Please see below the details and photographs of our queens. We have not yet added Theo's and Katie's pedigrees.

Gone but never forgotten
Chloe sadly died aged 14, probably as a result of a stroke. It was very sudden and she did not suffer. She was the mother and grandmother of many champions and premiers.
