The Dodd Squad is back!!

7.00pm on the 11th of March is the date of the launch night of the new seasons…………..Dodd Squad, the junior sailing club of Nantwich and Border Counties sailing club!!!

Come along and plan the new season, review the highs and lows of last season……..share the photos!!!............if you were not around last year then welcome!!!! Come and join the squad see you on the 11^th at the clubhouse.

Welcome to the Dodd Squad

The Dodd squad is the Junior arm of the sailing club. It is run by the Junior Committee, who decides what sailing and social activities they would like.

The Dodd squad have their own representative on the Club sailing committee - Grace Jackson - who ensures that the Juniors views are heard and that the committee stay young at heart!!!.

The Junior Organiser is Steve Hoy who can be contacted on 01630 647588.

Training

During the season, the club training team will again be running the RYA Junior training courses, so if you are new to sailing and would like to gain a recognised RYA qualification, contact Wendy Rigg on 01270 820779. RYA courses are often over subscribed so book early to avoid disappointment.

If you want to improve your skills, come along to the Dodd squad and let us know what you want to achieve. In the past Juniors have used it to improve the skills they gained on the RYA course, learn how to race, to complete their RYA stage 3 & 4 qualifications or just to have fun with their friends.

RYA coaches - In addition to the Club training and Junior coaching teams, we invite RYA coaches to the club, to assist your development and host RYA open training days, which you can attend- see the Dodd Squad programme.

Boat Hire

New to sailing and do not have your own boat yet? Then take advantage of the Pico Junior Loan Scheme, which allows you (providing you have the RYA stage 2 qualification) to hire a Pico, while you look for a boat of your own. For further details click on the link above.

Junior Racing

Any juniors interested in racing?

If so the Club offers ‘Juniors only’ race training and events as part of the Junior Sailing Club (Dodd squad) and via the Club sailing programme. (Events include the Junior Pursuit Trophy, New Helms and the North West Junior Topper Traveller. ) See the club handbook and Dodd Squad programme for further details.

These events offer you the opportunity to come along and race locally against your friends with a safety boat on hand.

Been there and done that? Why not try the Junior North-West Travellers at different sailing clubs throughout the region, if you want a new challenge.
