Peter Speller is a Fellow of
the Institution of Chemical Engineers with over 25 years
experience in the manufacture of polymers, batch fine
chemicals and silicones, where he has managed technical,
commissioning and operations teams. He has specialist
expertise in the assessment of chemical reaction hazards
and is serving on the editorial panel of the Loss
Prevention Bulletin, published by the IChemE. He
also has specialist expertise in the preparation of risk
assessments and other reports meeting the requirements of
safety regulations, such as COMAH, DSEAR, and COSHH.
In addition to his chemical engineering qualifications, Peter holds an MSc in Integrated Pollution Management (the key qualification of many of the UK Environment Agency's Inspectors), and has prepared a number of successful applications for Authorisation under the UK Environment Act and IPPC Regulations. He has design and operational experience of industrial effluent treatment plant, and has performed a number of waste minimisation studies at industrial sites. Peter is active in the development of waste to energy and waste to fuel processes, having performed techno-economic and due diligence assessments on a number of available technologies, including performing technical trials on behalf of clients.Peter is a member of the UK Academy of Experts, and using his expertise in chemical plant operations, safety, and the environment, has written five expert reports over the past three years.
