| Biofuels: Peter Speller has recently completed an assignment to assess the most cost-effective demonstrated technology for large-scale manufacture of biodiesel, for implementation in the UK. He is also assisting a client in the development of a cellulosic ethanol plant, and has been participating in the Carbon Trusts Pyrolysis Challenge, producing transport fuels from biomass pyrolysis liquids. | ![]() |

| Tank Farms: Peter Speller has
audited a number of UK fuel distribution terminals, and advised on
improvements required post-Buncefield, as well as other health, safety,
environmental and quality aspects of the installations and their
operation. Dr John Cox acted as an expert witness in the case of the fire and explosion at Albright & Wilson's Avonmouth works resulting from inadequate unloading procedures at a chemical tank farm. |

| Risk Assessment: Peter Speller has been chairing a HAZOP study of the Tema Oil Refinery, Ghana, as well as chairing hazop studies of a materials recycling plant and a waste pyrolysis plant. He has also completed a number of hazardous area classifications and risk assessments required by DSEAR, for petrochemical, industrial and landfill installations. | ![]() |

| Due Diligence: Peter Speller has completed a technical due diligence study of a waste to energy process using pyrolysis, including supervision of trials, specification of analytical requirements and assessment of results. He also led the pre-acquisition due diligence of a fuel distribution terminal, and is currently assisting a european development bank in turning around an iodine production plant in eastern europe. |
