In dei nomine amen [In the name of our Lord] the 30 day of May in the year of our lord god 1646 I Richard Hurd of Rillington husbandman sick in body but whole in minde of good and perfect remembrance (love and praise be unto almightie god) doo make and ordain this my present will and testament in manner and forme following, first I commend my soule unto almightie god my maker and redeemer hoping to be saved by the death and passion of Jesus Christ my redeemer and my body to be buried in the parish church yard aforesaid. As for my temperall estate I dispose of them as followeth. Imprimis (First) I give & bequeath to Richard Hurd my eldest son ten pounds to be paid after the desease of me Richard Hurd & Ellise my wife. Item I give to everye one of my grandchildren one ewe & a lamb. Item I give to every one of my brethrens children one ewe & a lamb. Item I give to Thomas Ruell halfe a stone of wool. Item I give to the poore of Rillington 3s1d after my disseace. Item I give to my made one gimmex hogg. Item I give to my man one shilling. Imprimis for my debts I owe to Anthoney Rouse seven pounds. Item I owe to Gawain Allerston £10. Item to Richard Hutchinson five pounds. Item I owe to Christopher Jackson fiftie shillings. Item to Mr M.annerie of York fiftie three shillings, four pence. Item I owe to William Postell tenne shillings I owe John Ruston tenn shillings. Item I will that all sure debts & duties as above mentioned to be paid & discharged by my wife Ellise, and William Hurd my sonne whome I make my whole & sole executors of this my last will & testament. Item I owe to Lawrence Hodgson 40s and to Christopher Chambers twentie shillings which being forgotten in the former place of debtes. Item I will that all my debts legacies & funeral dexpences be discharged by these my full executors above mentioned. In testament whereof I have here unto set to my had and seale the day & year above written.
