All these lists will be revised in time. I apologise for any keying errors or technical faults. Much recent work has been to prove that George Vasey born in 1737, who was the grandfather of Mary Vasey who married Samuel Hellard Owston, was a member of the Thornton Allerston Vasey family. All the data seems to fit with this interpretation. The search for a first marriage of this George would fit in with the fact that the George Vasey who married Frances Temple was a widower. I have now found the first marriage, the death of the first wife and the baptism and death of the son by the first wife (confusingly called Elizabeth at marriage and Isabel at burial which is not unheard of), the son being born at Scalby but buried at Ebberston. I think there is more to find with the Thornton Allerston Vaseys. I am looking for various marriages for this family and I am hoping to find some more Allerston and Ebberston primary sources that concern the Vasey family. With the new published pedigrees many new people have been added. For the researcher this has been an interesting development.
One useful addition has been the purchase of the marriage certificate of the George Vasey who married Sarah Newton at Scarborough in 1837. This has led to some revisions of the family.
A mathematical mistake was made for John Vasey who died in 1837 aged 64. He would thus have been born around 1773. I think that he turns out to be a son of George Vasey and Frances Temple. He fathered three children.
Please note that if there are any mistakes that are noticed that the correspondent please site the primary source of their research in corresponding with Tim Owston.
