We close for

Surgeries
Appointments
When you join the surgery you will be registered with one of the
doctors. We have both male and female doctors and you can see the doctor of your choice, but we would like you to see the
same doctor for the same problem if you can. If you cannot see your own doctor,
you may make an appointment to see any doctor. Please note when
booking an emergency appointment it will not always be possible to have the
appointment with the doctor of your choice
This Practice offers ten-minute appointments for routine
matters. We believe that the longer appointment time improves the quality
of care we can give you. We aim to offer you an appointment with the doctor of your choice
within one working week except when the doctor is on holiday.
The Practice now operates the Advanced Access Appointment System
as recommended by the Government and Hartlepool
Primary Care Trust.
This new system will consist of a mixture of:
-
- Same-day appointments for both mornings and afternoons.
- Appointments pre-bookable up to four weeks in advance.
- Emergency appointments for urgent
medical problems that cannot wait until the next
day
Same-day appointments can only be booked on the day of the appointment and are bookable
from 8.30am each weekday by
contacting reception either by telephone or by attending reception. We also offer late afternoon appointments for those patients who
are in full time employment and for those who have children in full time
education. Please therefore bear this in mind when arranging an appointment
if these circumstances do not apply to yourself.
This new system will offer:
-
- Improved access for
patients
- A lower rate of missed appointments
(DNA's)
- Less time spent in the waiting room for emergency
appointments
Please make appointments and keep them. If you cannot keep them,
please let us know. You can make an appointment by phoning or calling at the
surgery during opening times. If you are in need of an urgent appointment,
please tell the receptionist. We usually see urgent cases in the morning. Please
'phone before 10am to be
seen the same day.
Telephone
Advice
If you need to speak to a doctor or would like some advice over
the telephone, please ring between 11.15am - 11.30am any morning. If the doctor is not
available after you have called the surgery twice, the receptionist will take
your telephone number and we will contact you when a doctor is available.
Home
Visits
Requests for home visits should be made
before 10.00am on the same day.
If you are registered at Grange House Surgery please contact 01429
272679
If you are registered at Brierton Medical
Centre please contact 01429
270234
You
will ONLY be visited by a doctor if the doctor agrees that it is necessary. The
Doctor may decide that your problem could be attended to at the surgery. In
this case, you will only be seen if you come to surgery. Doctors do not have to
visit at home unless there is a medical need. We will not accept requests for
visits from third parties if we think a visit may be unnecessary. If you cannot
telephone yourself, the person telephoning for you must know the details of your
symptoms. Lack of transport is not a reason for a home
visit.
Emergencies
A
doctor is always available. Out of surgery hours a recorded message on the phone
will tell you whom to contact.
