Prescriptions
Repeat
Prescriptions
These
can only be given if the doctor has put your prescriptions on the computer as a
REPEAT and 48 hours notice is required. Changes in treatment may only be done
at an appointment with the doctor, NOT by a receptionist. The receptionists'
cannot take requests for any other prescriptions. You MUST see or speak to a
doctor.
Ordering of Repeat
Prescriptions
these
can be ordered by the following methods
- Utilising the right hand side of the repeat prescription
form and handing this to a receptionist or posting it in the box at reception
to avoid queuing at the reception counter
- By post, again using the right hand side of the
prescription. Should you enclose a
stamped addressed envelope this will allow us to return your repeat
prescription to you or you may collect your repeat prescription from reception
- Pharmacies – most pharmacies will organise ordering,
collection and delivery of your prescription.
You the patient will need to organise this with a pharmacy of your
choice.
- Fax (to the relevant number) – information which is required
for this process is Name, Address, DOB and medication name
It will no longer possible to order your repeat prescription
over the telephone from April 2009
Your Local
Pharmacist
Your local Pharmacist will be able to give
you free health advice at any time - you don't need an appointment. The
Pharmacist is also able to issue emergency medications until you are able to see
your own Doctor and a local pharmacy scheme will allow the free prescribing of
treatment for minor ailments if you are eligible for free prescriptions. Many
Pharmacies operate extended hours on a rota basis. Call NHS Direct for details.
