The Palatinate Ensemble is Durham's premiere string chamber music group (The Journal: 21 Jan 2002). Its members, drawn from the local area and the university, are amongst the most experienced young players within north-east England. The group combines youthful flair and dynamic playing with great technical skill across a wide range of music.

The Ensemble regularly plays with Durham Cathedral Choir and performs in a variety of concerts, as well as occasionally providing musicians for functions in Durham and further afield.
