The approach to our cottage is made over a glorious mountain road (Bealach na Gaoithe) with views around each corner and through the unique, unspoiled, area of Glen Torridon, which has been described as the oldest glen in the world, resting on Lewisian gneiss, a rock even more ancient than Torridonian sandstone. One is enveloped in a sense of pre-history in this unsurpassed scenic landscape where, in many places, the mountains gleam with white quartzite. Ben Eighe and Loch Maree (according to Wainwright, the late, famous, fell walker and television personality "the loveliest of Scotland’s freshwater lochs") are wonderful nature reserves; haunts of the Golden Eagle, Pine Marten, Wild Cat and Red Deer.

Grace Cottage, a white painted former croft house, enjoys spectacular panoramic views over Loch Torridon, the Applecross mountains and beyond this to the Isle of Skye. Diabaig is Gaelic for deep bay and a short downhill walk from the cottage brings you to a perfect horseshoe cove.

Our detached, renovated, character holiday home sleeps four people. There are one double and one twin bedroom and a bathroom (with shower) upstairs. Downstairs there is a kitchen with electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, auto washing machine and large dining area with exposed beams and woodburner type electric fire. The sitting room/snug has a clear view coal burner and traditional timber panelling. We have a Nicam TV and a full SKY package (new for 2008). There is also a heated porch for outdoor clothing and equipment (The tumble dryer is located here). All the principal windows face the sea and mountains.

The cottage has modern, controllable electric storage heaters in all the rooms. Fan heaters are provided for occasional summer use. The natural garden is fully enclosed with a seating area facing the sea and mountains and overlooking Diabaig’s scattered crofts. There is parking for two cars and unrivalled walking from the door. Grace Cottage is perfect for lovers and dreamers from all walks of life.

At the start of the Diabaig road there is a spectacular series of waterfalls, with an easy-going path alongside. On arrival you will find the cottage equipped and furnished, as a well loved home, with mood lighting and original pictures. There are a colour television and video, CD player and radio in the snug and a tape player and radio in the dining room. The coombed ceilings in the bedrooms mean that wardrobes are not practical, so ample pegs and hangers are provided along with chests of drawers.

There are picnic chairs in the porch and a permanent bench on the patio, so that guests may enjoy the fresh mountain and coastal air and gaze out ‘over the sea to Skye’

Another quote from Wainwright aptly describes the location." The tiny port of Diabaig is charming, a miniature fit for framing. The pier is small, the cottages few and tidily arranged, the little beaches a delight for pebble collectors, the bay a narrow inlet of Loch Torridon where only the cry of sea birds disturbs the silence"
