Review of events in June
Sports Spectacular 22nd June
Firstly, a big thank you to all the parents who helped to make this
years Sports Spectacular, a joint primary school event held at the Meadows,
such a success. This year over 300 children took part on a beautiful June
evening. As well as having a fun evening, our children did very well, wining
over 30 1st, 2nd and 3rd awards. Well done to the children and thanks again to
all those who volunteered to set up and man the event.
The Carnival 25th June
Secondly, the Carnival. The children, staff and parents made a
tremendous effort with this years Carnival. Our Amarillo float and its red
white and blue procession looked fantastic and sounded brilliant. The village really
did resound to the sound of "Show me the way to Amarillo' during the
procession! Not only did our children really enjoy themselves, we were also
overall winners of the procession. Congratulations one and all!
Things to come in
July.....
The School Disco 15th July
The school disco will be held on July 15th, Infants from 6pm to
7.15pm with the Junior event following on from 7.30pm until 9.00pm.
Following feedback from last years disco, we have made a few
changes to the format of the event:-
·
The infant disco will have more structure, with a children’s
entertainer, rather than a regular disco. That means that the children will
have games and activities that are set to music rather than just dancing.
·
We intend to have a set entry price which will include entry, a
selection bag of sweets and unlimited squash/water. No additional spending
money will be required.
·
We will require at least 20 parent volunteers for each session, Infants
and Juniors, to allow the disco to proceed. If you would be prepared to help
with manning either session, or with setting up/clearing up, please call
Bridge840882, Karen842491,Susanne843573, put your name on the list on the PTA
notice board in the school entrance
hall, or email us on willygillypta@gmail.com.
Next PTA meeting, 7.30pm, Wednesday 6th
July, year 5 classroom.
This meeting will review recent past events, but focus chiefly on
the disco, & Year 6 leavers concert. You don’t have to be on the PTA
committee to attend, and if you’d like to volunteer your services in any way
either come along to the meeting, email as above, or contact Bridge/Susanne or
Karen on the numbers given.
Lastly, if there are any budding footballers amongst our daughters,
the Duffield Dynamos are considering coaching a girls team alongside the
already popular boys team. If you think your daughters might be interested or
you would like to offer your services as a coach, please read the attached note
and reply to Paul Williams before 8th July.
Many Thanks
