Dear Parents

May I extend a warm welcome to any new parents and pupils who have joined the school and have missed my first newsletter.  It is still available along with diary dates for the academic year if you require it.  Collect one from outside the office and they are also now available on the PTA website.

HARVEST CELEBRATIONS – THURSDAY 7 OCTOBER – 9.30AM

Our Harvest Celebration will take place in the school hall on Thursday 7 October at 9.30 am.  Nursery pupils will not be joining us on this occasion but all parents are very welcome to attend.  Our harvest gifts will support our elderly neighbours in St Alkmunds Close and the Padley Centre, helping homeless people.

The needs of the Padley Centre are quite specific and the following items are the products we would most appreciate you sending:

Soups, fruit squash or soft drinks, biscuits

Fruit, vegetables, eggs, cheese, margarine/butter

Coffee, Drinking chocolate, sugar, milk/milk powder, breakfast cereals, sandwich fillings, tinned meat and fish, tomato and brown sauce, salt and pepper, salad cream, cup-a-soups, any tinned food

Disposable razors, shaving foam, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant

Sadly 30% of the goods the Padley Centre receive are out of date or unusable so it is vital that the donations you make are:-

1.                   In date

2.                   Undented

3.                   Have a ring tab on top and therefore do not require a tin opener

If possible we would like all pupils, Nursery to Year 5 to bring a plate, small box or basket of goods as listed above.  If it is not possible to provide a plate, box or basket, single items will still be appreciated.

Year 6 pupils are asked to provide fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, and/or non-perishable food items (in date).  Year 6 will be delivering their gifts to the residents on St Alkmunds Close after the service.

Pupils should bring their gifts on Wednesday 6 October or first thing on Thursday 9 October.

Thank you in anticipation of your support.

PUMPKIN COMPETITION

Part of our harvest celebration is to judge the PTA Pumpkin competition.  Pumpkins need to be in school the day before Harvest Festival on Wednesday 6 October by 9 am.  Please affix name and class and deliver pumpkins to the junior department craft area.

Please complete the reply slip to partake in any of the named clubs.  For football complete the reply slip on the soccer stars leaflet and send it into school.  Whenever there are insufficient places for every pupil wishing to join a particular club, priority will be given to the eldest pupils.  Otherwise places are allocated on a first come first served basis and reply slips cannot be considered after 9.00 am on Friday 24 September.

If you are interested in running any other club please let me know.

PHOTOGRAPHS/VIDEOING OF PUPILS

This item was on the first newsletter, and only needs appropriate action if you didn’t receive it.

In order to record evidence as well as pleasure we like to take photographs of the pupils and record their work on video from time to time.  Such material is kept in school and used purely for school records and evidence of progress/achievement.

We would appreciate your support in allowing us to take photographs and video concerts for example at Christmas etc.  If however, you do not give your permission for your child to be photographed or videoed then you must return the reply slip attached.  Non-return will be interpreted as parental approval.

Yours sincerely
