William Gilbert Endowed School
Dear
Parents
Welcome
back to the 2nd half term.
The buzz of Christmas has begun with the Christmas tree ordered and
concert rehearsals underway in the infants and juniors. I look forward to inviting you to the various
activities in due course.
I am
delighted to inform you that Miss Cooper has been appointed as a full time
teacher at a Primary School in Kent where she is relocating. The Governors and Staff are thrilled that
Miss Cooper has secured this promotion and we wish her every success in her
future teaching career.
Of course
this is a bitter-sweet celebration as it means that William Gilbert has to say
goodbye to Miss Cooper at the end of this term.
In the meantime the Governors have appointed Mrs S Greasley to teach
Red/Year 1 class until the end of the academic year.
Out of
School Clubs (Junior Pupils only)
With the
darker evenings upon us and to allow the staff time to prepare for the
forthcoming concerts all After School Clubs (badminton, art, computers,
netball, hockey, craft, recorders) will finish at the end of this week until
the New Year, except Soccer Stars.
The
contract with Soccer Stars means it has one more week and the last session
until the New Year will be Thursday 18th November. I will write to you in the New Year to inform
you when clubs will restart.
I am sure
you would like to understand why your child brought home a new Bible on Monday
18th October. An anonymous
donor provided the money for each child at William Gilbert to be presented with
a Bible. Mrs Owen organised age
appropriate Bibles and led a special assembly on Monday 18th October
and Mrs Alison Brown, Deputy Director of the Diocese presented the Bibles.
We hope
the pupils will respect, look after and enjoy their Bible and we are sincerely
grateful to the anonymous donor.
The school
photographer will be in school on Thursday 11th November to take
individual and/or family group photographs.
Please ensure you return your reply slip from a separate letter sent
last week and ensure your child is well groomed on that day.
Stocking
Filler Ideas for Christmas (Junior Pupils)
After completing a risk assessment following an accident in a Games lesson we feel it is necessary for the pupils to be better equipped for contact sports. As soon as possible, but certainly ready for the new term in January, all pupils will need a pair of shin pads and a gum shield. Pupils who do not have the correct equipment will be prohibited from these activities. For parents receiving a Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support or Family Credit the school will seek financial assistance from the Trustees of the Ivan Wright Trust in the strictest confidence.
HOLIDAY DATES 2005/06 & 2006/07
Please find attached details of the above holiday dates.
Yours
sincerely
