CHRISTMAS FAYRE 2004

Thank you very much to Julie Hayes and members of the PTA Committee for organising a highly successful Christmas Fayre.  It was good to see so many people working to support the school and spending their money!  The treasurer reports an estimated profit of £1,950.00.

MRS WHYLD’S LOST CD

If, at the Christmas Fayre, you used the CD player normally based in the entrance hall please could you check if you have Mrs Whyld’s CD Disc 3 Smooth Classics.

Unfortunately this disc was removed and replaced with a Christmas CD.  I can only assume that someone has my CD in their CD case and I’ve got their Christmas CD.  If that sounds like you please could you call into the office so we can swap.  My concert stress levels are in need of calming music and I am definitely not ready for “Oh I wish it could be Christmas everyday” not yet anyway!!  Thank you in anticipation.

VICARAGE LANE

We have received a complaint from a resident about the children crossing over Vicarage Lane to meet parents.  Apparently children are crossing without looking for oncoming traffic and in these dark afternoons they are difficult to spot. Please can you urge your child to look before stepping out onto any road.   The resident also stresses that Vicarage Lane must be kept clear so that emergency vehicles can reach the elderly residents on St Alkmund’s Close 24 hours a day.

SCHOOL CONCERTS

The junior production is this week Tuesday 30th, Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd December.  Details of pupils return to school for the evening performances have been included in separate letters last week.  Please expect the pupils to be late on Tuesday 30th as this is our afternoon performance and consequently we must perform to the end.  Once again, please refer to the separate letter.  Please note there will be no crossing lady at that time on Tuesday.

The Nursery concert is on the morning of Wednesday 8th December and the Infant concert is on Thursday 9th December at 1.45pm and Friday 10th December at 9.30am.  Don’t forget your tissues, as a mixture of emotion and pride will be guaranteed to overcome you.

CHRISTMAS CARDS & POST BOXES

Pupils are welcome to bring their Christmas cards and post them in the Willy Gilly post-boxes from Monday 6th December.

CAROL SERVICE

We have been informed that St Alkmund’s Church is double booked for our annual Carol Service scheduled for Wednesday 15th December.  We have agreed to move our Carol Service to Tuesday 14th December at St Alkmund’s Church at 2.00 p.m.  All parents, relatives and friends are invited to attend.  All pupils – Reception to Year 6 – will be at Church and parents need to collect their child at 3.00 p.m from Church.

Unless I am informed in writing that your child is to return to school to be dismissed at 3.30pm then it will be assumed that your child will go home direct from Church and will be clear about their arrangements.

Please note this change of date from the list published in September.  I am sorry if the change in date causes inconvenience especially for working parents but unfortunately the double booking is beyond my control.

CHRISTMAS PARTIES

The reorganisation of the Carol service has meant we have had to adjust our Christmas party arrangements from the originally published dates.  Please note:-

The junior party is on Wednesday 15th December until 4.00 p.m.  Junior pupils are invited to bring a change of clothes for the afternoon party.  Please note the later finishing time.  Parents should come into school at 4.00 p.m to collect their child.

The Nursery party is on Friday 17th December in the morning (a separate letter has been sent to Nursery parents giving details) and the Infant party on Monday 13th December.  Nursery pupils are allowed to come dressed ready for the party.  Infant pupils may come ready dressed for the party or may bring their clothes to change at lunchtime.  Infant parents who would like to see the arrival of Santa should come into school at 2.45pm.

INFANT THEATRE TRIP

Year 1 and Year 2 are visiting The Assembly Rooms, Derby to see Snow White on Thursday 6th January 2005, the first day back at school after the Christmas holiday.  Please note details in a separate letter previously sent.

JUNIOR VISIT TO BIRMINGHAM

A separate letter giving details of the junior theatre visit to see Jungle Book at Birmingham on Wednesday 19th January 2005 has also been sent out.

I very much look forward to welcoming you to the concerts and Carol Service and hope you will be able to attend.

Best wishes
