Harrogate welcomed back Pat McDaid and Gary Edmunds from suspension today, and Mark Wells returned to the squad following his departure at the end of February. In contrast to previous weeks Town were quickly into some nice football, Martin Regan opening Towns account after only 4 minutes. With the side at full strength Town were just too much for Matlock, Pat McDaid working relentlessly in midfield, Jimmy Wright outpacing the Matlock defence with ease, and Glen Robson giving the opposition a complete nightmare. Midway through the first half Town seemed to let it slip a little, the defence though proved strong with Damien Henderson and Gary Edmunds working well together. Natcho Ybarro, who was played as sweeper today looked the commensurate pro. supremely confident, relaxed and skillful. Michael Parkinson stepped up Town's game with some impressive runs from midfield which left Matlock wide open, Jimmy Wright and Martin Regan both coming close. As the crowd were looking at their watches anticipating half time (44 minutes), Glen Robson received the ball on the edge of the 18 yard box, looked up, then let loose a looping shot which left the Matlock keeper stranded. Virtually straight from the resulting centre (45 minutes), Jimmy Wright chased a seemingly out of reach ball beating the Matlock defence and crossing in to Glen Robson who confidently waited for the keeper to commit himself before planting the ball in the back of the net. Natcho Ybarro was replaced in the second half by Steve Sanders, who quickly got into the game. Matlock stepped up the tempo a little, but failed to make an impression. The remaining subs, Steve Perrin and Steve Hartley were use in the last half hour, Perrin making a cross to set up Martin Pemberton after 81 minutes. An impressive team performance, with a collection of impressive individual performances - name a bad Town player today? there wasn't one! squad:- Kevin Wolfe, Mike Parkinson (Capt.), Mark Wells, Gary Edmunds, Damien Henderson, Pat McDaid, Ignacio Linares Ybarro, Jimmy Wright, Glen Robson, Martin Regan, Martin Pemberton. Subs:-Steve Sanders, Steve Perrin, Steve Hartley.
