Alternative Tyre Choice For The Transalp.
| The original tyre fitment on the Transalp are Bridgestone Trailwings. Sizes are Front 90/90 - 21, Rear 120/90 - 17. These tyres are a compromise between road and off-road used and utilize a typical "block" type of tread pattern. They work remarkably well on dry tarmac but are less inspiring in wet conditions. | |
| The alternative to these tyres are made by Cooper Avon Tyres and are called "Distanzia". The Distanzia are still a road / off-road compromise, but the bias is more toward road use. The Distanzia tyre is replacing the old Avon Gripster range. The Distanzia tyres are known as an AM43 for the front and AM 44 for the rear. | |

version. This is the AM 44 'Distanzia' rear tyre which I had fitted in Jan 2002. This tyre has more of a road bias than the Bridgestone Trailwing it replaced. The tread pattern is also quite different. |
