Boeing B47 StratojetThe Boeing B47 was the worlds first swept wing bomber, making its first flight on December 17th, 1947, with deliveries beginning in 1951. At it's peak 1800 Stratojets were in service with the Strategic Air Command worldwide. The B47 carried a crew of three, pilot and copilot who were seated in the glazed fighter type canopy and a navigator/bombardier/radio operator who was housed in the nose. The most important variant of the B47 was the B47E with up rated engines which featured water injection for extra take off power, although there were many sub variants reflecting different ECM and avionic fits. Although the B47 was capable of taking conventional weapons it's primary role was that of nuclear bomber normally carrying one 10,000lb nuclear weapon. A reconnaissance version of the B47 was developed known as the RB47 which featured a lengthened and glazed nose. The B47 served with the USAF until the late 1960's when the type was declared obsolete. Performance A
