Only fifteen minutes away
we have the magnificent Caerphilly Castle with its own leaning tower. This vast
fortress is one of the greatest surviving castles and is second only in size to
Windsor.
Nearby, Caerleon is the most important Roman site in Wales with an
amphitheatre, fortress baths and barracks and Roman Legionary Museum.
Castel
Coch, our favourite, is a fairytale castle in the woods, where you can imagine
Sleeping Beauty still lying!
We
are only 12 miles from Cardiff and all it has to offer, including wonderful
shops, Cardiff castle, museums, Cardiff Bay and, of course, the famous
Millennium Stadium host to famous sporting occasions and concerts.
There are many historical castles to visit in the area, including Raglan and Chepstow. Tintern Abbey and the beautiful Wye Valley are half an hour away. Blaenavon is a world heritage site and is home to Big Pit, an experience of being taken around a former working coal mine by an ex-miner.
