HASKINS - Garfield Morgan |
REGAN - John Thaw |
CARTER - Dennis Waterman |
Regan and Carter are two members of the Scotland Yards Flying Squad "The Sweeney" dealing with the most violent of crimes, in a series that changed the way that police dramas were presented (the police didn't always win and they didn't always play it by the book). (The BBC tried to produce a similar hard hitting series 'Target', but mised the mark by a mile). The forerunner to this series was Thames' "Special Branch"
The series also spawned two violent feature films in 1976 & 1978 both produced by Euston Films (available on PRV), they made the violence of the series seem tame by comparison. Released as a double video in the UK by Lumiere (LUM2096)
