I can only record a short movie clip for about 15 secs before it stops recording. Why?
The Shoot Mode is set for "For picture message". This is because short clips are appropriate for sending in Picture Messages, due to network limitations. To change, activate the camera in movie mode and under "settings", select "Shoot mode" and select "High quality video". Your movie length is now determined only by your storage capacity on the memory stick or phone.
I can't see the files I've just copied to the Memory Stick Duo
Make sure you disconnect the USB cable after the transfer of files is completed. You won't be able to see the new data on the Memory Stick with the USB cable connected.
My phone is connected to the PC but I can only access the Memory Stick. How can I access files on the phone itself?
Accessing the phone via My Computer only accesses the Memory Stick. To access the phone itself, you need to install Sony Ericsson File Manager which came on the CDROM.
I've connected my phone to my PC using infrared, but the transfer is slow.
Ensure the infrared speed in the computer is set to 11520 bps. See relevant computer documentation.
Can I change the shortcuts that I have when using the Navigation Key?
The Navigation key shortcuts can be changed easily. See the User Guide on how to do this.
Can I have Media Player playing in the background while I do other things on the phone?
Yes. Start playing and select "More" and select "Mimimize".
Can I have the radio playing through the speaker?
Yes. Start the radio and select "More" and then select "Turn on speaker". At this point you can also minimise so you can do other things on the phone by selecting "More" and select "Mimimize". However, the handsfree must remain connected. Removing it will turn the radio off as it acts as the aerial.
Can I change the screen size for my games?
Yes. Highlight the game and select "More". Select "Screen size" and select the size you want.
Can I change the screen brightness?
Yes. Go to Settings/Display/Brightness.
I am in a game and I can't seem to exit. What can I do?
Press and hold the Back key on the phone until "Exit" appears, then select Exit.
I get a "File Corrupt, cannot be used" message when I try to change a theme
This happens if you use a theme which is not compatible with the K750 such as K700 themes. Themes for the D750, W800 are also compatible.
I have the camera on the Macro setting, but I still can't get as close as I want.
Keep the Macro on, but use the zoom function to zoom in, then re-focus.
When I zoom in, the resulting pic looks a bit ragged and not as good as usual. What is the reason?
This can happen with digital zoom and it is unavoidable. This doesn't happen with optical zoom, unfortunately, most phones to date only have digital zoom.
Can I import movie clips onto my phone?
If you have a movie clip, you can import it onto the phone. However, it must be converted to 3GP or MP4 before it can be viewed. The shareware Xilisoft application is ideal for this. Imported movie clips run better if it is stored on the phone, rather than on the Memory Stick.
My phone does not have PlayNow(tm) as mentioned in the User Guide. Why?
This function is Network or operator-dependant. In the case of Vodafone for example, PlayNow (tm) is replaced with Vodafone Live! (tm).
Can I charge my phone on the computer without installing the software?
Yes I think so, by connecting using the supplied USB cable. The computer will probably detect the phone and act on that. Just cancel. Obviously, you won't be able to transfer files.
Can I reset the phone?
Yes. There are two reset options. Reset settings will reset any changes that you have made. Reset All will in addition to your settings, also delete all contacts, messages, personal data downloads.
Phone is working slowly
The phone memory may be full or the memory contents not properly organised. Restart the phone every day to free memory, or delete uneccessary files.
No battery icon appears when I charge the battery.
This is normal and may take up to 30 mins for the icon to appear. This can happen if the battery is a new one, is totally empty or has not been used for a while.
I can't use my phone on another network
It is likely that the phone was purchased from a network operator and therefore the phone being subsidised, is locked to that network. The only way round this is to either have the phone unlocked (which is frowned upon by the operator and may by now be illegal in the UK) or to buy an off-the-shelf SIM free phone (which is the expensive option).
My phone is asking for a password. It is brand new and I haven't set any passwords
Check the Operating Manual that came with the phone for the default code. Typically, default codes are 0000.
My dog ate my User Manual for the phone. Where can I get a replacement?
The User Manual is available in a pdf format and is downloadable from the Sony Ericsson web site. This will requires the free Acrobat Reader from Adobe. (See Links page).
I have entered the wrong SIM passcode three times. Now I can't use my phone
You only get three attempts to enter the right code. If you fluff it, the phone locks and therefore you will need to obtain a PUK code. Contact your network operator for this code. You usually get it there and then or via their web page on providing the right information or it may be sent via email.
I have lost my USB cable, can I make my own and or adapt one?
Not recommended. You will probably damage the phone and will certainly invalidate any warranty. Best to buy a genuine replacement.
My Memory Stick is not shown on Phone Status when charging. Why?
Not sure why but it is normal when charging from the computer. It is not a fault. It does appear however when charging from the mains adaptor.
What is the maximum capacity of the Memory Stick?
The phone can accept Memory Sticks up to 2GB (though I haven't seen any that capacity to date). The phone comes with a 64MB stick.
What is the difference between SIM lock and the Phone Lock?
Locking the SIM card with a PIN will prevent that SIM card from being used in another phone unless the PIN number is entered. Locking the phone with a PIN will prevent that phone from being used by anyone else if it is stolen or the SIM card has been exchanged. These PIN codes are asked for if activated, when you want to change a code and when the phone is switched on. Default codes are 0000.
What program do I need to be able to view a video or audio clip recorded with my phone on my computer?
You will need the latest version of Quicktime from Apple. See the Links section. There are also other applications available on the internet that allow you to view phone movie or audio clips.
My imported screensaver is very slow, what causes this?
The K750 screensavers are in fact just animated gifs. A large animated gif with lots of frames and/or large image size can run really slowly. Best to use small animated gifs. Most animated gifs will run slower on the phone than they do on the computer in any case.
I've yet to remember my new phone number, can I check it on the phone?
Yes you can. Key in *#100# and press send. After a short while, your phone number will be shown.
Can the K750 be used in the United States?
The phone is Triband and can be used in the United States.
What is the IMEI number and how can I find it?
Each phone has its own unique IMEI number. This number is used by your network operator to totally block the phone and render it useless should the phone be lost or stolen. This number is usually printed somewhere on the phone usually beneath the battery or in the area of the SIM card, but can be called up on the screen my keying in: *#06#.
I heard there is a Service page accessible in the phone. How can I access it?
