Peter Millington's Links

Home Page

The other websites I manage are all very business-like and/or academic. That's all well and good, but the links I've listed there are not necessarily much fun. So, since this is my personal website, I'm giving here links to the websites of a few of my favourite organisations and people. Enjoy!

WebContentment. www.webcontentment.biz

This used to be my consultancy business website for web usability and data content services. It included my Do-It-Yourself 20-point Test for website usability. In May 2008 I decided to let the website lapse. However, at the time of writing, specific pages still seem to be available, even though the root domain name is not. Try the links and see if they're still there.

Folklore Society www.folklore-society.com

The world's first, and one of its best folklore societies, it lives in the bowels of the Warburg Institute, University of London, and has an excellent specialist library - looked afer by the ever-helpful Caroline Oates. It has a creditable record of publishing material on my pet subject, folk drama, both in books and in its journal Folklore.

Breaking the Procrastination Habit

My friend Lorraine may be remote geographically (she lives near Perth, Western Australia), but she's close many other ways. Her motivational website is, well, motivational! It's well-written, full of good advice, witty quotations, and much more. And her ezine - The Daily Dose - is well worth subscribing to.

Mortimer's Morris www.mortimers-morris.org.uk

The acceptable face of morris dancing - North West style. Apart from their skillful and innovative dancing, this female team is well known for its elegant kit, and the men in black (of whom I am now one) who play music for them in the French style. They are also regulars at the monthly French session at Ockbrook, near Derby, where they helped me learn to dance the Bourée, Mazurka, Scottish, etc.

Epoche www.epoche.co.uk

This is the website of my son's band Epoche, based in and around Nottingham, although they have also been on tour in Germany. The band's style is influenced by grunge, and my son Thom plays a pretty mean six-string bass with them.

Food Matters! Nourish & Flourish. Newark foodmatters.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk

Run by food coach Michèle, who keeps telling me to cut down on my sugar. And unfortunately, when I catch myself sideways on in the mirror I can see why!

Riverside Drama Company www.riversidedrama.com

Based in Long Eaton, must be the best amateur drama group in the Nottingham and Derby district. Certainly, I've seen them give some bravura performances, not least with Noises Off and The Morris.

Lighting a Candle for Peace db.bbc.co.uk/wales/capturewales/pop/mary-millington.shtml

My first wife made this video montage with the BBC in 2002 about her peace campaigning activities. It starts with a photo of our daughter Zoë when she was aged about 12.

Moorgreen Show www.moorgreenshow.co.uk

Also known as Moorgreen Country Show, this a large agricultural show in western Nottinghamshire, England, that my family has been involved in for at least three generations. Be patient with the website. It'll take ages to load because the file sizes have evidently not been optimised.
