"Rude awakening on the way".

Dear Sir,

So, Paddington Churches housing association, who are in full control of West Hampstead housing association, have finally got the 68 year old pensioner out of her home which will now join their massive pool of empty property.(Penniless widow faces life on the streets, 19 July).

In the absence of any real accountability, how can a useful complaint be lodged? PCHA are run almost entirely by accountants and business consultants and neither the Housing Corporation nor the National Housng Federation will provide even a pretence of regulation at this level.

What is alarming is that the Government is pressuring Camden to transfer its tenants to these organisations.

If the council can change the existing culture of housing associations, then this would be a great accomplishment. Otherwise, their tenants should be warned they're in for a rude awakening.

Yours sincerely,

Peter Rutherford.

Chair, WHHA Tenants' Association. (in exile).
