Dear Editor, Your article, (Mother's anguish in housing row, (5 June), shows that Paddington Churches Housing Association acts out of convenience for itself. If we were to ask how many empty homes they have at the moment, it is likely to be around the 300 to 400 mark. If we add in the empties held by their sister company, Pathmeads, this figure may well be tripled. It would have been a simple matter to rush Ms Enebi's traumatised family into something temporary, and sort out something permanent in a few weeks. Because their regulator, the Housing Corporation, is a busted flush, and there is no other form of accountablity, PCHA's managing director, Pamela Lockley and her team will continue to suit themselves. Only when housing associations are subject to effective accountability will the nastiness and waste stop.
Yours sincerely,
Peter Rutherford. www.ifgr.org.uk Independent Federation of Genesis Residents. |
