Genesis learns takeover lessons
Genesis Housing Group has learned "a number of important
lessons" as a result of its takeover of West Hampstead
Housing Association, according to a new report by the
Housing Corporation.
The corporation has issued a "toolkit" for housing
association board members considering a group structure and
says other associations considering a rescue can learn from
Genesis' experience.
It highlights the importance of legal "due diligence" in
identifying major problems, keeping staff informed and
having a media strategy.
