Review

Imagine a film about would be super-heroes (switched off already?). Now you learn that they have a range of super-powers ranging from cutlery fork throwing, garden spade wielding and a raging temper. Is a mental picture building?

The story begins with three super-hero losers who aspire to be as amazing as Captain Amazing, thee superhero. However Captain Amazing has his own problems, oh yes he has eliminated crime to such an extent that he has made himself redundant.

The film progresses as the two respective parties work to resolve their individual problems. Do the pretenders establish themselves in the superpower role? Does Captain Amazing retire? We can't tell you that.

Atmosphere
Arthur It would be fair to say that from the outset this film did NOT ooze quality.
Ford There wasn't any.

Plot
Ford Feeble.
Arthur I didn't expect there to be one, I almost fell asleep. However having fought to stay awake I can establish that the plot was thin and weak.

Special Effects
Arthur Were fine, doing all of the right things at the right time.
Ford Yeh special effects were grand.

Sound
Ford Fine, nothing outstanding. A few nice ricochets.
Arthur It was OK. The film was such that sound was not of much importance; at least not in a Phantom Menace type way.

Acting
Arthur Actually it was fantastic. The actors turned the film into something more than it deserved to be. I enjoyed the performances.
Ford Eddy Izzard and his disco boy gang were funny.

Overall
Arthur & Ford Everything about this film shouted dog! Yet it almost pulled itself into the realm of stupid yet enjoyable film. After warning that we don't always recommend a film (see 13th Warrior review), we have a one and a half recommendation rate. This rate will drop further.
