A young man (Chris) meets a young woman (Ann) in an incredibly romantic location (Swiss Alps). Love exists from the second they meet; two soul mates have found each other. The doctor marries the artist and a life enveloped in love brings them two children.
Fate delivers an excruciating blow when the two children are killed in a car crash. Although their love for each other never diminishes the blow is to much for Ann and for some time she is a loser in the battle for her own sanity.
With the help of her husband life slowly gets better, however fate has not yet finished. Anne's reality is that in a space of four years she has lost her two children and loving husband to road traffic accidents.
Of course Chris, finds that death isn't the end but rather the transition into a heaven of his own creation. Then as he adapts to his change of status and general transition he is told that his wife, unable to cope with life has committed suicide. She is of course in a hell of her own creation. Chris unable to live (or indeed die) with this knowledge tries to rescue her.
Arthur: As Ford is treating himself to Chinese food tonight I shall treat you to a double helping of my thoughts regarding this film.
Atmosphere
Arthur: There was no electricity spiking the air as I watched the film,
however it would be fair to say that the film did generate a visual collage
the like of which I have never before witnessed.
Plot
Arthur: The plot was different, interesting by virtue of own uniqueness
rather than the enjoyment which it offered.
Special Effects
Arthur: The special effects were indeed special. For truly unique effects
you really have to watch this film.
Sound
Arthur: To be truthful I don't recall the sound as being of either high
or low quality. It simply fitted in with the rest of the film in a very unassuming
way.
Acting
Arthur: Like the sound, the acting performances were creditable but not
outstanding.
Overall
Arthur & Arthur: This film is truly unique, of that there is no question.
However I could not say that the film really hit the mark. In truth the plot
(crammed full of effects) unrolled so fast that the viewer did not have time
to feel or think anything. I couldn't recommend this as an enjoyable film and
yet I do think it is worth the watching.
