Each Karate session is free. The following list provides a breakdown of other costs you may have to pay whilst at the club. Some are mandatory, such as club membership, whereas others, such as T Shits,Hoodies etc are optional.

Club membership (to be renewed annually) - £85.00 this £85.00 means you can join as many Sports Union clubs as you like also with no weekly subscriptions, a saving on previous years costing of approx £80.00
S.E.K.U. membership + license (to be renewed annually) - £18.00 (£16.00 to renew)

Before you can grade, you must become a member of the Shotokan of England Karate Union (S.E.K.U). The first grading is in December, so you don't have to pay for this straight away.

Equipment/Kit:
Karate suits ('Gi' - lightweight) - £25.00
Karate suits ('Gi' - heavyweight) - £36.00

These will last a long time, and most members only buy a lightweight Gi. Again, you don't need to buy one straight away; these are ordered three to four weeks into the new term, so you will have plenty of time to try karate before purchasing a Gi.

Karate belts, coloured - £3.00 each.

If you pass your grading you will need to buy a new belt. They are available to purchase on the night of your grading. These normally cost about £5.00 in shops.

Each grading £is free, all included in your £85.00 membership.
Grading certificates - £1.00.

These are optional and can be purchased on the night of the grading.

Social Events - £varies

From time to time the club organizes a variety of social events.
