Pigasus Press was established in March 1989 as S.A. Publishing and we
have been active in the independent small press for nearly 15 years.
Our first regular publication was Strange Adventures,
which started as the newsletter of a sci-fi and telefantasy fan club based on the Isle of
Wight, before developing into a proper monthly fanzine covering a wide range of fantastic
media.
Looking for a niche in the science fiction magazine market led us to the publication of
Fax 21, an illustrated quarterly dubbed "ahead
of its time" by the critics.
The next three years was a busy period for us, with eight new titles out, including:
An S.A. special on Blade Runner, which preceded a long planned issue
devoted to 2001: A Space Odyssey
The cross-genre Premonitions magazine was a
breakthrough into the horror stories market - which eventually led to our series of
genre poetry anthologies, starting in 1993 with -
The Others Amongst Us followed by
Millennium Blues.
Out of our diversification into regular newsletters came Zine Kat's highly praised small
press review dragon's breath, the horror zine
Scar Tissue, and 'alternative' movie guide
VideoVista.
In 1994, Pigasus Press launched its most ambitious SF magazine yet.
The ZONE features short stories, profiles, interviews,
critical articles and a comprehensive media reviews section.
This title grew to absorb the genre poetry aspect of sister magazine Premonitions,
and generated a spin-off newsletter, Touchpaper.
Going online in 1999, Pigasus Press developed a web presence to promote existing magazines
and we later created new sites for
VideoVista and
The ZONE.
In Spring 2001, the Pigasus Press site received a complete re-design and overhaul, with
greater scope for expansion, all new artwork (including our animated flying pig by Mark
Roberts - see below), and more content added in several areas, including online archives
of material from Touchpaper and Scar Tissue, and the introduction of a Pigasus
FAQ page.
This current www.pigasuspress.co.uk domain site was created in October 2003, with
new graphics and better access to magazine ordering details and Pigasus archive content.
