Born
in 1987, Pilgrim Adventure’s original vision was to take folk off the beaten
track to experience God in the wideness and intimacy of creation. It was
natural that the early
Some
journeys are specifically directed to sites of Celtic significance, others
seek to live out the Celtic way in the present, as we reach remote locations
or communities, often with particular Christian association. Yet others
enable us to create our own community of faith, mirroring the early Celtic
Christians, for whom hospitality and community were at the core of their
life.
In essence there are four elements to our journeying :
Pilgrimage – movement outward, returning
home
Adventure – risking the new, rediscovering
the old.
Connections – God at the centre
and God at the edges
Companionship - sharing the journey,
sharing the meal
Within this spirit of adventure there is
always:
- spectacular scenery and wildlife
- companionship and sharing, but
also time to be alone
- time for reflection, each day
framed in gentle worship
- the feeling of pilgrimage, a journeying
together and
drawing close to God.
Freedom
One of the key features of Pilgrim Adventure
is a freedom for pilgrims to do what is right for them at that time. One
may join in everything, or opt out now and then for a bit of personal space.
Such flexibility is possible because of our unique small-group nature (average
group size 8) and allows each who takes part to deepen and enrich their
Christian journey, as well as enjoying a refreshing break amongst like-minded
people.
Our programme offers a variety of journeys
- long /short
- walking lots / walking little
- mainland /island
All are inclusive of accommodation, entrance fees, meals (excepting casual refreshments), and all transport. Each journey is led by two experienced volunteer Pilgrim Adventure Guides, who stay with the group throughout the journey. Our journeys are suitable for both singles and couples. Our planning team will be very happy to assist you with your travel plans to the journey location.
Each year we anticipate meeting new faces as well as welcoming back
old friends. We hope you will be among them.
