Upward facing short stemmed flowers range from white to shell-pink and appear endlessly in summer.

ACER

- griseum. Lovely small tree with cinnamon coloured peeling bark and vivid Autumn foliage

- conspicuum `Silver Cardinal´. This snakebark has the most incredible pink and cream variegated foliage, highlighted by the red petioles and young stems which are pink striped with white in the spring. A truly gorgous tree !

- palmatum `Beni-Schischihenge´ . Small japanese maple, the leaves being red, orange, yellow or green; very changeful, the variegation being orange rather than red or pink. Quite stunning.

- palmatum `Chishio Improved´. Japanese Maple. Similar to shindeshojo, but the vivid young growth is a little pinker. The colour lasts well through spring, becoming green in summer and red in autumn. A multi branched tree.

- palmatum `Corallinum´. The new scarlet - pink leaves are almost fluorescent! They fade to reddish - green with traces of pink. Looks stunning in the spring with the sun shining through the leaves.

- palmatum `Matsukaze´. Japanese Maple with a spectacular red spring colouration. The leaves are long and deeply cut, with bright green veins to add to the effect; becomes green in summer before turning rich carmine red in autumn. Fast growing when young, with gracefully cascading branches.

- palmatum `Osakazuki´. Japanese Maple. Slightly bronzy foliage, the best autumn colours of all the maples.

- palmatum `Ukigomo´. The `Floating Clouds´ Maple. Pink, white and green daintily speckled leaves. Slow growing and beautiful.

- pseudoacacia `Lace Lady´. A dwarf variety with twisted stems and pretty lace-like foliage.

SORBUS

- `Apricot lady´. Flowers in May. Large apricot- yellow fruits in bold corymbs and rich autumn colours.

- `Pink Pagoda´. Flowers in May. Spraeding tree with pinnate leaves turning red in the autumn. Lovely pink berries which slowly turn to white.

- aucuparia `Chinese Lace´. Flowers in May. Leaves with deeply cut and divided leaflets giving a charming, lace-like effect and turning red-purple in autumn, when the lovely red fruit is still on the tree.

- cashmeriana `Rosiness´. Flowers in May. Flowers are a soft pink. Fruits are rosy-pink in loose drooping clusters like pink marbles, remaining long after the leaves have fallen.

- commixta `Embley´. Flowers in May. The leaves are a glowing red in the Autumn,generally colouring later and staying on the branches longer. Large, heavy bunches of glistening Orange-Red fruit

- domestica `Eastern Promise´. Flowers in May. Leaves turn Purple then fiery Orange in the Autumn, Fruits deep rose-pink in dense hanging clusters which weigh down the branches.

STYRAX

- japonica. Flowers from June to July. Tree which needs to be viewed from beneath to appreciate the pendulous bell-shaped white flowers, which appear in profusion.

- japonica `Pink Chimes´. Flowers from June to August. Needs to be viewed from below to fully appreciate the profusion of lovely, pink, bell-shaped flowers.

TILIA

- cordata. Flowers from July to August. `Small leaved Lime´ A tree of rounded habit with heart shaped glossy dark green leaves and perfumed flowers.

- platyphyllus. Flowers from June to July. `Broad leaved Lime´ Vigorous tree with rounded habit and downy shoots, small scented flowers. Produces suckers and can have a problem with aphids.

TRACHYCARUS

- wagnerianus. Miniature Chusan Palm. Miniature being rather misleading as this palm grows quite tall, the term relates to the leaves which even on mature plants only reach a couple of feet across. Feed well and you will be rewarded.

ZELKOVA

- serata variegata. Serrated edged leaves unfurl a pale pink, changing to green with a white margin on this graceful rounded shaped tree. Grey bark peels back to reveal orange under-bark. Glorious Autumn colours.

- ( florida x c. nuttalli ) `Eddie´s White Wonder´. Flowers from April to June. Tree/Shrub grown mainly for its enourmous white bracts which appear in the spring and are sometimes followed by strawberry like fruits; another of my favourites!

- controversa `Variegata´. Flowers in May. (The Wedding Cake Tree) Beautiful variegation of silver on a green leaf, combined with the graceful tabulated growth, make this one of my favourite plants in the garden.

- florida `Cherokee Sunset´. Flowers from May to July. Tree/Shrub with leaves margined deep yellow and pink and large red flower bracts. Lovely autumn colours, turning from deep pink on the leaf margins to deep red in the centres. Gorgeous!

- kousa satomi. Flowers from May to July. Tree/Shrub with beautiful red colouration on the leaf and dark pink flower bracts, which surround a central creamy eye. The autumn colours are a rich red all over.

- rutgersensis `Stellar Pink´. Flowers in May. Profusely flowering every year with lovely pinky white bracts, and gorgous red Autumn colours.

- avellana `Contorta´. Flowers from December to March. (Corkscrew Hazel) Twisted branches and stems with hanging yellow catkins in the spring.

COTINUS

- coggyria `Flame´. Flowers from August to September. The leaves are pinky-orange when young, becoming green. This contasts well with the orange-pink flowers. Orange autumn tints.
