Club RUB SKIN TWO Mag Issue 35 |
The reason that Club RUB is such a wonderful haven for fetish fashion, is that it's not a place for fashion victims. As soon as you walk through the door you can tell that this is a place where people come to have fun - and if they look good in the process, well so be it. Ironically, and thankfully, this relaxed atmosphere means that most people do look good there. They also tend to have that essential, but sadly rarely brought out, fetish accessory: a smile. The wild and wonderful dress code themes may have something to do with it. Fetish flamenco? Beach party? Medical night? No problem. The Club Rub flyers never make you think "aarrrgh, what shall I wear?" Instead, they make you think "My god, a chance to dig out my ballroom dancing outfit/swimming costume/operating theatre scrubs." Club RUB has made dressing up what it should be...a chance to use your imagination, delve in your fetish wardrobe and teem it up with a pair of devilishly high heels knowing that the intimate club space means that you won't have to stagger too far to the bar once you're in there. Because it's a smaller club it's got all the benefits of a friendly party while still retaining the funky elements that make London clubbing so darn cool. That's right, you can play the night away while still being able to dance to properly mixed hard house. (Sorry non-Londoners, but life's just too short to club to Depeche Mode.) With an ever increasing pool of regulars, and unbelievably friendly staff (promoter Kim will greet you at the door herself), Club RUB is a place where you'll want to come again and again. And we mean literally. Main Page |
