Review Starf*ucker Shar Rednour (ed) Alyson Publications, Los Angeles SKIN TWO Mag Issue 35 |
Sometimes a book falls into our lap that has nothing to do with fetishism but is so bizarrely kinky that it deserves a review anyway.
Starf*ucker, an anthology of fiction from the ultra endorsable Alyson Publications, clearly falls into this category. Twenty four short stories about imagined sex with famous figures, with an absolute veto on true stories. Combine this with the editor's criteria of raunchy, content and literary ideal (in that order). Add the contributor list that includes Carol Queen and Susie Bright, and you can begin to see just why this collection tickled the SKIN TWO taste buds. The anthology is based on Shar Rednour's zine, Starphkr. (Yes, there really is a magazine devoted to imaginary star fucking.) Carol Queen kicks off the collection with a feisty tale of a young Marilyn Monroe. Thomas Roche gets his teeth into Marilyn Munster (with a little help from Wednesday). M Christian has a dalliance with the ultimate mistress - lady Liberty herself. Meanwhile, Cecilia Tan screws with Ziggy Stardust. If none of these stars get your juices going, then how about Whoopi Goldberg, Brad Pitt, Monica Lewinsky or Dan Quayle? If the shagging isn't always kinky, the deviant mentalities at work here certainly are! It's possibly the strangest erotic fiction anthology I've seen yet. And it's certainly the wittiest!
