TOUCHINGS
(For Bracaval)
meeting contrasts ponder
ones not met
and meet on the relations of
another not yet touched |
Work with Amatheur Lanoë (France):

SUNDANCE
(for Lanoë)
spins
sways
semi-turns
a down turn around
up-spirals
fingers’ ascension pointing to five points
steps back
stills in yellow
(silent yellow)
slow emergence - up-reaching
kicks out
thrusts bent leg down
(a voice hitting on holes of plenum -
reverberations heard in sinews
of void of holes)
wrists flex
jutting phalanges pull back
so slow
to momet of tangent
(making blue)
where elbows dig slants
hips lineate curves
and head sweeps brush the air
as twitching feet percuss the lit earth |
Work with Robert Pillard-Valere (France)

COMMUNION THROUGH SOUNDS OF ASTRO-PHYSICAL KINGDOM
(for Gabriela)
shimmering wisps crossing
through material-immaterial
transcendent space penetration-occupation
in-taken
further and further
serenade on fine swing of silver light
within realm of deva elf salamander sprite and sylph
burying sailing flying burning through
taken caught
in between gossamer-fine threads
around city-garden
returning
listen look
feel along
catch if you can
passing song
chant
flute-charm
trumpet-blast
orchestral tumult
melody
across |
Work with Ken Palmer (Scotland):

PAINTERLY ADUMBRATION
(for Ken Palmer)
I’ve seen the
deep geometry
of infinite gridwork
and the geometric Light
that comes through |
work in translation:
Through Open Circle I met poet and translator Serge Baudot who has translated
over sixty of my poems, some of which have been published in French literary
magazines. These translations made it possible for me to participate
in poetry festivals in Paris and Nantes. Serge Baudot is editor
and translator of Six Poetes Ecossais,(Telo Martius 1992).
1994 Literaturförderpreis winner, Mirko Bonné, has translated
a small selection into German. An even smaller selection was translated
into Russian by the poets of the Rostov-on-Don Writers' Union after a Glasgow
City Council Twinning Cultural Delegation to Rostov in May 1991.
These poems appeared in their journal Word.
| THE BLANK PAGE
off
off the page
well off
off and far
or not so
far
other than the image of its emptiness
(which is something to celebrate)
the words are in the wind
and whispering fast
so you have to listen
still and chase
ah! listen to the page with no words
listen to the page with no words
feel the silence
hear the wind |
LA PAGE BLANCHE
en dehors
en dehors de la page
bien en dehors
en dehors et loin
ou pas aussi
loin que ça
différent de l'image de son vide
(ce qui est quelque chose à célébrer)
les mots sont dans le vent
ils chuchotent vite
alors il vous faut écouter
en silence et à l'affût
ah! écoutez la page vide de mots
écoutez la page vide de mots
sentez le silence
entendez le vent |

Throwing Poems:
Throwing Poems, a now disbanded company, was formed
in the early 1990s. We consisted of George Lyle, a jazz musician
on double bass; Elspeth Dickie, movement, and myself as writer and voice
of our performances. We worked with visual artists, Bertrand Bracaval
and Stan Bell on two of our Glasgow City Council Dept of Performing Arts-funded
performances, Antahkarana1994 and Atlantics1995 respectively.
The intervening performance we staged was called, Ways to Go and
performed in the St Mungo Museum of Religion and Art in Glasgow.
I Might go back to doing work of this kind of work in the 'sometime' future.
