Gay & Lesbian Heritage Services

Since 2004 Jon has been working with the Manchester Pride Festival (www.manchesterpride.com) and Manchester City Council on developing the Lesbian & Gay Heritage Trail, a guided walk highlighting Manchester’s Queer past. The Trail was commissioned for the Manchester Europride in 2003 and its popularity ensured that it has become a firm favorite at the subsequent Pride festivals.

Jon guides the walk throughout the year and in 2005 co-ordinated a project to mark the Trail sites with permanent tiles, commissioned from local artist Mark Kennedy.

Following on from his diversity training work with Greater Manchester Police, Jon was invited to speak about Manchester’s Lesbian & Gay history at the 2005 GMP Lesbian and Gay Staff Affiliation (LAGSA) conference at Manchester Town Hall and attended by the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester.
