NOTE....... I may appear inconsistent in my spelling of certain place names e.g. Portmadoc/Porthmadog, Caernarvon/Caernarfon/Carnarvon, Criccieth/Cricieth, Nevin/Nefyn etc. Indeed, the spelling of these places has changed over the years. As a general rule I have tried to use the spelling that was in use at that time in history. In English Criccieth is officially spelt with two "C"s - un yng Nghymraeg
