Wales is a principality of the island of Great Britain and politically, part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Prince of Wales is a member of the British (English) royal family. The last native Prince was killed in 1282. The area described in this site covers the old English counties of Caernarvonshire, Anglesey and Meirioneth. These roughly coincide with the ancient kingdom of Gwynedd which (less Anglesey) is what the area is again named. Recently a limited degree of devolution has been granted - (That's it - no more politics (intentionally) on this website - RDC)
