New Members Always Welcome!

Battersea Chess Club is proud to be one of the oldest chess clubs in London (formed in 1885), and welcomes new members of all abilities.

We field teams in the London League and Surrey League, and for less experienced players there is the opportunity to get the flavour and atmosphere of competitive chess in the Croydon League.

We also hold hold internal club championships, rapid play and blitz tournaments, as well as more casual games. Oh, and we like a pint too!

So whether it's a serious or a social game you're after, come and meet us at our new venue
